Census

Trump made it known, that for the last few years the census would not include immigrant individuals. This was an act done by the president to purposely retaliate against sanctuary cities and liberal states that disagreed with President Trumps immigration policies.

Travel Bans

The travel ban that Trump Administration implemented changed the lives of many individuals. Before Trump left office, he expanded this ban to several other countries. The ban, according to Trump, was suppose o help prevent the spread of Covid-19 and limit the amount of individuals from entering the United States.

New President New Policies

Inauguration day was a day many individuals anticipated. The United States was foreseeing the arrival of a new president who could change the way America was being perceived for the last 4 years. Recently, in an article published by Immigration Impact, “We must end this uncivil war that pitches red versus blue, rural versus urban, conservative versus liberal,” Biden said, because we have “much to repair, much to restore, much to heal, much to build, and much to gain.

Biden Stops Deportation

Biden wasted no time as soon as he stepped foot into office. He made two major decisions right away, number one to pause deportations for certain noncitizens in the United States and also halted the “the remain in Mexico” program. This program was making asylum seekers remain in Mexico until they had a hearing, but Biden administration has ended that.

Trump Demonizing Immigrants

For the last five years that President Trump was in office, his continuous attacks on migrants was a major issue because he made it clear that foreign countries like Mexico were sending rapists and bringing nothing but crime to the United States.

2nd Stimulus

President Trump issued a stimulus check months ago to help families who were affected by the coronavirus pandemic. The stimulus was suppose to help financially for a few months. Recently, it was announced that perhaps a second round of stimulus checks might be issued once again, but this time also those who are undocumented.

ICE’s End of the Year Report

According to Trump’s administration, ICE has released the end of the year’s report about illegal immigrants who got arrested in 2020. Per their report, 2020 had an average of four criminal convictions for each immigrant. According to ICE’s figures, 90% of them already had convictions for homicide-related crimes, kidnapping, assults, and sex crimes when they got arrested.
