Census

Trump made it known, that for the last few years the census would not include immigrant individuals. This was an act done by the president to purposely retaliate against sanctuary cities and liberal states that disagreed with President Trumps immigration policies. Trumps order to leave out immigrants from the census was to prove that if we counted them this would encourage illegal immigrants to continue to enter the country; he did not want this to be an enabling action.

According to a recent article posted by Immigration Impact, “In 1982 in Plyler v. Doe, the Supreme Court also made clear that the protections of the 14th Amendment, which apply to all “persons” in the United States, also apply to undocumented immigrants. And since 1790, the U.S. Census Bureau has counted every person residing in the United States during the census, regardless of immigration status”. Though Trump’s action to leave immigrants was not illegal, it created an inaccurate count of how many people are in the country. This was a clear power trip done by the President that hopefully is eliminated by the court.
