Suing Private Prisons

Recently, governor Newsome signed a new regulation that would allow immigrants who are detained in prison, to sue these them if they are mistreated. This comes after all the negligence many face while under custody. “Advocacy and legal groups have long documented the abuses and dysfunction within immigration detention facilities, private prison operators in particular. The law is needed now more than ever—and should be adopted at a federal level”.

In other recent articles, many women talk about procedures being done on their bodies without their consents, being unable to contact attorneys and being held back from the proper health care. This is abuse and no person should undergo this kind of treatment.

Giving this ability to people is going to hopefully help the government realize there is a major issue in the prison system and perhaps make a change to it; no person should have to suffer.
