Immigrants and Covid 19 Shot

Since the Covid-19 pandemic began back in March of 2020, many immigrants have been left out from the relief packages that the United States has distributed to Americans, those include stimulus checks, rent assistance etc. Because of this, many immigrants assumed they would most likely be left out from getting the Covid-19 shot as well. However, the government has made it clear that everyone, no matter the immigration status should get the vaccine and is eligible to receive as well. According to a recent article published by Immigration Impact, “DHS and its Federal government partners fully support equal access to the COVID-19 vaccines and vaccine distribution sites for undocumented immigrants. …DHS encourages all individuals, regardless of immigration status, to receive the COVID-19 vaccine once eligible under local distribution guidelines.” Though there have been many false advertisements designed to discourage immigrants from getting vaccinated, the government encourages otherwise.

It is important we get everyone vaccinated, especially the immigrant population since they were the ones who many relied on to keep our economy going and many were left out the relief packages. It is important we increase the number of vaccinations to keep everyone healthy and safe.
