Luckily days before Trump administration left office, Biden was able to strike down the policies that Trump wanted to implement. The major one was stopping the “safe third country”. Instead of sending immigrants to a different country to ask for asylum, they will be able to ask for asylum at the US border.
Biden has agreed he would be sure to rethink those with criminal backgrounds but would allow immigrants who truly need help to enter the US. “It would have also allowed ICE agents to broadly reject enforcement guidance, like Biden’s recent order to focus on violent offenders over other undocumented immigrants”, says an article posted by Immigration Impact.
It comes to a relief to many to know that now that Biden is in office he will focus on implementing and finalizing new immigration policies. With this new administration there is hope the United States will be repaired.
