The U.S. State Department have released the winners of the Fiscal Year 2025 Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery on May 4th, 2024. On that date, foreign nationals who entered the lottery can visit the official Entrant Status Check website to find out whether they were chosen for the lottery. Winners may proceed to the next step and submit an application for permanent residence on October 1st, 2024.
Applicants need to keep in mind that the State Department will not send any direct notification to the lottery winners. Entrants may experience delays and difficulties accessing the official website due to the heavy user traffic.
Just last year, up to 120,700 Internationals became US Citizens via the Diversity Visa Program. 2023 DVP figures were notably higher compared to those in the past fear years, compared to the 48,400 naturalized individuals in 2022. Though the numbers have gone up significantly, the rate of entry remained relatively the same, dating to the fiscal year of 2020.
According to date from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), a total of 878,500 people were naturalized and became citizens of the United States in the last year. The majority of naturalized citizens arrived in the States as an immediate relatives of U.S. citizens or through sponsored preference categories.
