TPS For Haitians

Recently, the Biden Administration announced that Haitians who are currently living in the United States are now eligible to reapply Temporary Protection Status also commonly known as “TPS”. Haitians who are eligible for TPS will be able to stay in the United States for a period of 18 months and allow them to work and stay in the country legally. Trump administration, tried to end TPS for Haitians but was unsuccessful.

Haitians were able to apply for TPS after a catastrophic earthquake shook the country back in 2010. TPS was extended for Haitians several times after that in response to other natural disasters occurring in the country. This announcement comes after the Biden administration lifted many of the bans former president Trump implemented during his time in office. This new benefit has given many Haitians a lot of hope and has brought ease to them.
