USCIS Extends Initial Registration Period for FY 2025 H-1B Cap

USCIS has decided to prolong the initial registration period for the fiscal year (FY) 2025 H-1B cap. Originally slated to conclude at noon Eastern on March 22, 2024, the registration period will now remain open until noon Eastern on March 25, 2024. This extension comes in response to a temporary system outage experienced by certain registrants, and is intended to afford additional time due to this issue.

During this extended period, prospective petitioners and their representatives, if applicable, are required to utilize a USCIS online account to electronically register each beneficiary for the selection process and to remit the associated registration fee for each beneficiary. USCIS reaffirms its commitment to notifying selected registrants by March 31, 2024.

On February 28, 2024, USCIS introduced new myUSCIS organizational accounts, facilitating collaboration among multiple individuals within an organization and their legal representatives for the preparation of H-1B registrations, H-1B petitions, and any associated Form I-907, Request for Premium Processing Service. A new organizational account is imperative for participation in the H-1B Electronic Registration Process. For comprehensive details and resources, kindly refer to the updated information on the Organizational Accounts Frequently Asked Questions page.

In order to assist organizations and legal representatives in navigating the new process, USCIS initiated Tech Talks sessions in February 2024. These sessions offer individuals the opportunity to seek clarification on organizational accounts and online filing procedures for Form I-129 in H-1B petitions. USCIS strongly encourages all stakeholders involved in the H-1B registration and petition filing process to attend these sessions. Further information and session dates are accessible on the Upcoming National Engagements page.
