The United States offers two nonimmigrant visa categories for those who wish to study in the U.S. and they are commonly known as the M and F visa. The F-1 Visa allows you to enter as a full-time student and temporarily reside in the United States to study at a college, seminary, school, or conservatory.
On February 23, 2023, the guidelines for F and M students to apply for their student visas to study in the US were updated, now allowing them to come to the U.S. up to 365 days before the start date of their program, to prepare for their academic year. Prior to the new guidelines, students were only allowed to enter the United States 30 days prior to their program start date; granting them short time to make preparations for their academic term. With this recent announcement, Form I-20 will now be issued 12 to 14 months before the start date of the program, and demand for earlier interview dates will be granted to students. This will be a great opportunity for F and M students who want to take advantage of the year they have prior to their program date so they can prepare and get to know the environment where they'll be attending their academic year.
